Mollie Sugden was an English actor noted for her much-loved comic roles. She found prominence in the 1960s with a string of regular and guest appearances in TV sitcoms, usually as a battleaxe-type mother figure, before rising to wider stardom and international fame from the 1970s as Mrs Slocombe in the smash-hit department store comedy Are You Being Served?.
