Inside No. 9 stage show in development
Inside No. 9 could be coming to the stage.
The BBC Two comedy-horror anthology series, created, written by and starring Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, is currently airing its eighth critically acclaimed series but is expected to be "paused" after Series 9 in 2024.
However, The Sun reports that the duo are now developing a stage version of the cult hit series.
Expected to take the form of an adaptation of existing episodes rather than an all-new story, Shearsmith quipped "Don't be surprised if it happens."
He explained: "It's a show which lends itself to theatre, with small, self-contained stories set in one location, and small casts."
Inside No. 9 - Series One
Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith follow up the multi-award-winning Psychoville and League Of Gentlemen with an anthology of tales of the genuinely unexpected. Each episode is a stand-alone comedy set behind the doors of a different number nine. The various characters explored include those trying to sleep on a French overnight sleeper train, staff at a volunteer call centre and the holders of a seance in a Victorian villa.
