Robbie Williams dropped his friend Alan Carr from his comeback single. Simon Evans: In The Money - The Lowry, Salford review

Evans has a very dry satirical wit which comes across well in the more intimate setting of a mid-sized theatre.

Fringe Whistleblower survey results / the future

We received 35 responses to our working conditions survey. 9 were performers or show workers, 1 was a journalist, and the rest were venue staff (technicians, front of house, flyerers, and so on). These numbers are not high enough to be statistically significant, of course, but they are a starting point and a guide to further research.

Review: Funny Women Awards Final 2016, Koko

If we wanted to get all political about it Funny Women shouldn't exist. Comedians are comedians, why should gender even enter into it? But it does and the Funny Women organisation is clearly tapping into something. This year's final was staged at a bigger venue than usual and it was absolutely packed. For the first time in as long as I can remember I had to review a gig perched on a step at the back of a room.

Funny Women final 2016 review

It's probably the glitziest of all the new act finals, taking place beneath Europe's biggest glitterball in Koko nightclub and in front of an equally sparkly backdrop proclaiming: 'Laughter is the best cosmetic' (what, even ahead of sponsors Benefit?). There's a glossy 20-page brochure and a goodie bag of make-up for all who attend, too.

Comedy review: Miles Jupp at the Royal, Northampton

The stand-up's gentle charm carries us with him, but there are not many big laughs. He needs a way to make his disengagement more muscular.

Interview: Peter Serafinowicz on Sassy Trump

One of Peter Serafinowicz's most recent comedy projects, a YouTube series called Sassy Trump, takes the Republican nominee's words and redubs them in a sassy voice that synchronises seamlessly with the man's curiously effete mannerisms, his dainty, regal pointing gestures and scathing, catty insults.
