With the tension in Jinsy's favourite costume drama, Pameric, reaching fever pitch (who did put the silt in Jessie's bedpan?), Maven is looking forward to an entertaining night in front of the tessellator. But the arrival of the obnoxious Seebry Mungerton (Colin Hoult) and his Sporall-a-like sidekick Warell at the tower soon put a dampener on the arbiter's plans.

The Great He has ordained that Maven and Sporall should travel to the remote Lickhou Island to attend to a broken tessellator, leaving Seebry to run the Tower in their absence. If that wasn't bad enough, Maven's to be accompanied by the island's self-appointed, and permanently drunk, cartographer Melty Harris (Brian Murphy). On the plus side, Harris has spent his entire adult life mapping out Jinsy's landscape, so may be of use as a guide on their trip. Then again, given he's based his map on the contours of his ex-lovers, maybe not.

But if his directions can't help them, maybe his local knowledge can. Upon arrival, Harris reveals a chilling tale about the Kelpman of Lickhou - a hideous creature, half-man, half-seaweed, who creeps up behind you, ruffles your hair and then sucks your brains out through your ears.

Fearing for his luscious curls, Maven wants to get off the island as quickly as possible. Sporall, meanwhile, is more concerned with what lies beyond the island - past the outer reaches of Jinsy's protective nets. However, neither of them are going anywhere - the tide cuts them off from the mainland and safety, leaving them to face an uncertain fate at the hands of this mysterious monster.

Meanwhile in the Tower, Seebry is growing wild with power. Not content with stuffing his face with takeaways, introducing draconian laws and generally ignoring the Great He, he decides to broadcast Maven's plight on Lickhou to the entire island. And so, facing death and unaware he is being watched by every single person on Jinsy, Maven decides this is the perfect moment to open up about his most intimate and embarrassing secrets.

Will this be the end of Maven? Will Sporall escape and become the first person to leave the island? And is Melty really as daft as he seems? One thing's for certain - the islanders can't take their eyes off the screens. Jinsy will never be the same again.
