BBC Two was the big comedy winner at the 2011 British Academy Television Awards (BAFTAs), with its programmes winning in both the Best Comedy and Best Sitcom categories.

Harry & Paul (pictured), the sketch show by Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse was named by the judges as the best Comedy Programme; whilst Tom Hollander's church-based comedy Rev picked up the Best Sitcom award.

Elsewhere in the results, Steve Coogan picked up the award for 'Male Performance in a Comedy Role' for his acting in The Trip, whilst in the female category Jo Brand was awarded for her performance in Getting On.

Also, BAFTA host Graham Norton picked up an entertainment award for his Friday night chat show; stand-up comedian Daniel Rigby was named Best Leading Actor for his portrayal of Eric Morecambe in Victoria Wood's Eric & Ernie biopic; and Lauren Socha was named Best Supporting Actress for playing gobby ASBO teen Kelly in E4 comedy drama Misfits.

The prestigious BAFTA Special Award was this year bestowed upon Tiger Aspect boss Peter Bennett Jones in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry. Bennett Jones has been Executive Producer on many hit comedy series, including Mr. Bean, Harry Enfield and Chums and The Vicar of Dibley. He also co-founded Comic Relief with Richard Curtis, the comedy TV fundraising initiative which has raised millions for charity. Upon receiving the award, he said: "As a backstage boy I am thrilled by my moment in the BAFTA limelight. My day jobs at Tiger and PBJ have allowed me to do my night job at Comic Relief and I am hugely proud that its importance has been recognised."
