Series IV, Episode 1 - Camille

Red Dwarf. Image shows left to right: Mechanoid Camille (Judy Pascoe), Kryten (Robert Llewellyn)
Rescuing a mechanoid, Camille, from a crashed spaceship, Kryten falls in love instantly. However, so does Rimmer. And Lister's quite taken with her too. Just what is going on?

Further details

Out asteroid spotting, Starbug 1 receives a distress message from a crashed spaceship. Ignoring Rimmer's orders, Kryten heads down and rescues "Camille", another mechanoid - and falls in love with her at first sight.

However, when Lister sees her, Camille is a very human girl that looks like remarkably alike Kochanski, and when Rimmer sees her she appears as a beautiful raven-haired hologram; and Cat sees himself!

It transpires that Camille is in fact a pleasure GELF - a genetically engineered life-form - and appears to any person as their perfect companion; a physical manifestation of their deepest desires.

Curiously, when she actually reveals her real self as a hideous green blob, Kryten is not put off. He takes her to dinner, dances with her, even takes her to the cinema! His happiness is shattered, though, when he discovers that she is already married...
