Do we still need the Fringe guide?

Yes, it will be partially out of date by August, and yes, I will look things up on my phone during the Fringe, but for now I am a proud owner of a copy of the 2016 Fringe Guide. And when I saw that pile of programmes, I still got that thrill.

TV review: Taskmaster, Dave

It is no surprise that comedians are ruthlessly competitive. What I didn't realise until Taskmaster came along was how cunning and crafty they can be when he comes to getting one over on their stand-up rivals.

Fringe preview: Adam Hess

I think I laughed more when I was at the Edinburgh show by Adam Hess than at any show last summer. I have to qualify that, however, by saying that I couldn't remember many of the actual jokes afterwards, but that was because they flew around the room at such a fast and furious pace that I was still chuckling at one punchline when the next one hit me.

Note to comics about "PC culture" and what it means

I'm getting kind of bored of cry-baby comedians lamenting the fact that certain topics are "off-limits" these days. When I say "comedians", I'm, of course, largely referring to "cisgender, white, male comedians", who are learning that, as people are becoming more and more aware of societal issues like racism, sexism, and prejudice against LGBT and disabled people, the things that used to get laughs just aren't cutting the mustard anymore.

Daniel Welsh, The Huffington Post, 21st June 2016

Upstart Crow, series 1 review

Predictable in places, perhaps, but the ridiculous nature of some of these plot lines is arguably in the same vein as of the bards own greatest comedies.
