Radio Times review

How do you add to what has already been said, shown and written about Charlie Chaplin? Terry Jones concludes here that Chaplin was a "genius" who "took physical comedy to new heights" - not bold claims. He laughs at clips from the great silent films, tries to imitate the Tramp's walk and in several sequences simply stands on the streets of south London reading aloud from a paperback of Chaplin's autobiography. It all feels a little undercooked, but some of the archive footage, for instance of Chaplin revisiting Lambeth in the 1960s, strikes a chord.

Preview, Murder In Successvile, Greg James, BBC3

This is not sophisticated, carefully-crafted humour like, say, Inside No. 9, but there is something enjoyably stupid about it, even though it looks like it has cost a couple of quid to make. I fear the worst - this ludicrous off-the-cuffs series may be growing on me.

Review: Noel Fielding's fantastical coming of age

Sandpapering the face off a budgie. Playing hopscotch with Kanye West. A disloyal wife who makes out with a triangle. A New York cop named Raymond Boombox. The blokes sat next to you dressed as the Crack Fox and Old Greg. A minotaur. Even a 'reverse' minotaur (a bull's body with the head of Nick Cave, obviously). And not forgetting a giant curly penis exploding glitter into the auditorium. Welcome, if you care to read more, to An Evening with Noel Fielding.

Review: Dara O'Briain at The Centaur, Cheltenham

There's such a likeable dependability to Dara, you just know you're in safe hands, because he can find the funny in the mundane and ridiculous, and he's happy to laugh at himself too.

You should be watching: Inside No. 9

Occupying a Tuesday evening timeslot on BBC Two, it was perhaps inevitable that Inside No. 9 didn't received the recognition it deserves. After only two short series, Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton have succeeded in creating one of the most original and well-written British TV series in years.

Andrew McGee, The Boar, 10th May 2015

Series 4 preview

The script doesn't rely on outrageous situations, funny one-liners or madcap characters to bring the comedy. Instead we're invited into a world that feels very real, and it's the chemistry between the characters and the decisions they make that draws out the comedy and the more we get to know the characters, the more we're drawn in.
