Cold Feet's ageing Jack the Lads are creepy
Everything that gets on my wick about Cold Feet (ITV) was summed up in the moment when John Thomson's character, cabbie Pete, arrived at court for jury service in his best suit and tie.

Ian Hislop gets lost in translation
Satire is wasted on Americans. Ian Hislop, editor of Private Eye, was surprised to discover recently that his magazine had been included on a list of fake news outlets compiled by a university in Massachusetts. It was all because of a story he ran at Thanksgiving saying that a turkey had pardoned Donald Trump. Hislop told Delayed Gratification magazine that he had rung the university to explain to them what a joke was. "Some of the other stuff we put in the magazine isn't true either," he told them. "Theresa May doesn't run a school. She actually was the prime minister."

The right-wing comic standing up for the working class
Geoff Norcott is not Britain's only right-wing, working-class comedian, but it sometimes feels like it. Indeed, so rare is it to hear a comedian suggesting that Leave voters aren't necessarily racist or that increased government spending isn't necessarily the way to tackle social problems that his appearances on The Mash Report, Live At The Apollo or, for that matter, Question Time have often led to criticism or abuse online.

Rob Delaney: Jackie review
He's a charismatic, naturally funny, teller of tales, whose self-deprecating, and counterintuitively life-affirming, anecdotes will lighten up the hour you spend with him.

Live review: Matt Forde - Brexit, Pursued by a Bear
At one point in the gig a joke is so poorly received that Forde admits he won't be doing it the following night, and depressingly I found myself wishing that had applied to about 90% of the material he did this evening.

The comic the next Labour leader could learn a lot from
Forde's hour-long routine is jam-packed with crisply comedic analysis and uncanny mimicry, although at times it feels as if you're listening to Tony Blair's cheeky younger brother. It is safe to say more than 48 per cent of his Monday-night audience were Remainers, but he offers much for Brexiteers to enjoy too. If Labour's next leader wants to reconnect with the party's lost voters, they need to bring back Forde and learn how to deliver their shtick with his charm and humour.
