Ben had some wine last night, first drop of alcohol in nearly two months. He barely drinks these days, which will be a surprise to anyone who ever attended the BCG meetups.

There are BCG meetups?

There are BCG meetups?

There were in the 00s...

And some unofficial ones since then.

Whatever you do, just remember not to invite me please.

Official beer-ups were ruined by some ill-mannered members who liked to contact the relevant pub and cancel the reservations.
After that they became unofficial gatherings arranged by email, but generally by members who have actually left the forum.

And a few of them have left this mortal existence. :(

Perhaps they can participate by Ouija board.

Only Renegade Carpark (James O'Shea) as far as I am aware. Sadly missed.

Oldrocker, too. They were both at the meetup I attended in 2014.

Ah yes.
:-(

Posted elsewhere but if it happened today....

Just flicking through my local paper.

This looks intriguing.

"9.45pm

Hog Roast Followed By The Lighting Of A Bacon.

Just Three Miles From The Place What You Live In.

Free."

I think I might go.

At the last meetup I went to, in 2016, I think at least half the people there had only posted on the forums about three times. One guy there had no idea who anyone was apart from Alice. I don't even know if he was even a member of BCG.

I guess life moves on and the BCG forums aren't a big part of people's social networks anymore.

I'm holding a BCG meeting in the Dog and Duck, Bradford June 30th. (7:30)
Dripping on bread and meat pies will be served
See you all there.

CAMRA says they don't have real ale, so I won't bother looking for cheap airfare. ;)
