Carry On producer Peter Rogers' wife Betty Box was behind the Doctor films, whilst Carry On director Gerald Thomas's brother Ralph was their director.

Joan Sims was originally offered the part of Matron, whilst Kenneth Williams was initially disinterested in the role of Dr. Tinkle.

Some sources give the release of Carry On Doctor as December 1967, whilst others have a specific date in March 1968.

Sid James took to his bed in the untaxing role of Charlie Roper after having suffered a major heart attack just a few months before filming began (September 1967).
