TV action hero Kiefer Sutherland, in London filming a new series of his frenetic drama series 24, gets comfy on the Ross sofa tonight. He probably needs the rest - recent tabloid photos showed him on location running around a block of flats in the capital. After a four-year break the series returns to Sky1 later this year, with Bauer on the run from the CIA.

Also on the show is actress Emily Mortimer, talking about the faintly autobiographical sitcom she's made for Sky Living with best pal Dolly Wells, Doll & Em. And twinkly sex symbol Chris O'Dowd will tell Ross all about his role as a salsa dancer in the Nick Frost comedy film Cuban Fury.

Ross welcomes two big stars, and Peter Andre. Liam Neeson, Oscar-nominated for Schindler's List, has latterly become an action hero in the two Taken films. He'' been in the headlines recently for his part in a battle to save New York Central Park's horse-drawn carriage industry from being axed by the city's mayor, Bill de Blasio.

Fellow guest Goldie Hawn recently addressed the World Economic Forum in Davos on, of all things, meditation. Meanwhile, Andre, father to a new baby girl, will probably talk about how much he loves his kids, and there's music from Pixie Lott.

Actors Robert Lindsay and Rufus Hound appear as a duo tonight to discuss their upcoming performance in the West End version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - no doubt Ross will be quizzing them on how scheming they can be in real life. Stand-up comedian Seann Walsh, who is about to embark on his Lie-in-King tour, has kindly got out of bed to share some banter on the sofa as well.

It'll be interesting to see if Ross can rap along in time to Tinie Tempah, who will be performing live. Let's hope Tinie doesn't completely overshadow fresh-off-the-production-line X Factor winner Sam Bailey, who will also be taking the stage.

Russell Brand almost torpedoed Jonathan Ross's career after the Sachs Incident, and caused convulsions within the BBC that still smart to this day. But the scandal didn't lead to a falling out between the terrible twosome - Brand appeared on Ross's show a year ago and he's back again.

As Brand is never more than a stone's throw from an outraged newspaper headline, he's bound to fulfil expectations as the country's chief Contrarian Comedian, particularly after all of that nonsense about not voting during his Newsnight interview with Jeremy Paxman. Also on the show are actress Goldie Hawn, Dermot O'Leary, presenter of the National TV Awards (22 January), and troubadour James Blunt, who provides the music.

Don't tell Wossy (or Graham Norton, for that matter), but chat shows make the perfect accompaniment to late-night wrapping. If only this show aired before Christmas Day, then you could have watched the guests you like, and concentrated on the tricky shapes during the ones you don't.

Tonight's guests are John Bishop, whose autobiography you might have been wrapping, Jamie Oliver, whose gravy you might currently be digesting, and Ray Winstone, whose appearance in Sky's family drama Moonfleet you may squint at tonight, wondering why he's not swearing while hitting someone in the face.

Sir David Attenborough completes the Christmas line-up, and hopefully he'll be asked about his most offbeat hit, Tweet of the Day, which over Christmas will briefly flood Radio 4's Today Programme with glorious birdsong.

Jonathan Ross judges Tom Daley interview to perfection

The Wossy of old might have struggled with this chat. Get the tone wrong with Tom Daley, and a nation would have been on his back. But actually, Wossy judged this one to perfection.

There is nothing like a Dame. The last time Edna Everage was on Ross's show she berated him for his bad language and "homophobic" band name. As she breezed through various routines, the host barely got a word in edgeways. With her retirement approaching we can only hope she's even more scurrilous now. Also in the Green Room are Gary Barlow, Simon Pegg and FHM favourite Michelle "Tina from Corrie" Keegan.

The Jonathan Ross Show received record ratings on Saturday (16th November 2013) with 4.6 million and a peak of 4.9 million tuning in to watch One Direction, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker, Sarah Millican and Eminem. This was Jonathan's highest rating since he signed with ITV back in 2011.

Jonathan Ross may quit to move to USA with family

Jonathan Ross 'may quit multi-million pound ITV chat show deal to move to America with family'.

Carl Greenwood, The Mirror, 17th November 2013

One Direction are nothing if not hard-working. Zayn, Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall have just returned from Take Me Home, their epic world tour. Next week they'll release a new album and star in 1D Day, a seven-hour live stream incorporating contributions from fans. The world will soon have its fill, if that's possible, but the lads might need a sit down: Jonathan Ross is just the host to provide it.

They'll have to scooch up a bit for Radio Times columnist Sarah Millican, though. Not only is she in the middle of her own tour (called Home Bird, so they've got something in common), but there's always the hope that she'll settle in properly, take over from Jonathan and start asking the questions. The rude ones.
