The Scotts is returning for a second series.

Shooting on further episodes of the BBC Scotland sitcom will begin next summer, British Comedy Guide understands.

Written by and starring Burnistoun creators Robert Florence and Iain Connell as Vincent and Henry, brothers with a fraught, love-hate relationship, five episodes of the reality show spoof about their dysfunctional family aired on BBC Scotland and BBC One Scotland this autumn.

Co-starring Louise McCarthy as the pair's sister Colette and Sharon Young and Shauna Macdonald as their wives Laura and Vonny, the comedy also featured Lee Greig, Barbara Rafferty and stand-up Jamie MacDonald.

"Writing S2 of The Scotts with big Connell and every time we talk about Warhammer scenes he accidentally calls it Warcraft" Florence posted on Twitter. "I can't help but think of how much [The Witcher star] Henry Cavill and me would laugh about that if he would hurry up and agree to be my pal."

Series 1 of the comedy ended with Florence and Macdonald's characters, Vincent and Vonny, renewing their wedding vows.

Florence, McCarthy and Rafferty will next be seen on Hogmanay alongside Still Game creator Greg Hemphill in the BBC One Scotland sketch show Queen Of The New Year. And Florence, who recently fronted E4's Gamesmaster revival, is reuniting with Scot Squad star McCarthy again in 2022, in the National Theatre of Scotland's stage adaptation of Peter Mullan's cult classic comedy film Orphans.

Meanwhile, as BCG revealed in September, Florence and Connell are writing a Burnistoun film spin-off based on their Peter and Scott characters. Florence is also developing Nogaku, a psychological thriller with "Brian De Palmaesque slasher film elements to it" with stand-up and producer Ross McCarthy, whom he worked with on BBC Scotland sketch show The State Of It.
