The Final Lad's Night Out - review

The series wasn't exactly the best big thing but it was strangely brilliant and addictive. Of course, if you were of the wrong generation its just a blur of terrible language and inappropriate images.

Farewell, then, to The Inbetweeners, who signed off their third - and rumoured to be final - series in the typically lewd and crude gross-out fashion that blew the rest of the comedy competition out of the water.

If this was their farewell, they've left us with a perfectly formed memory, a magnificent fart in the face of good taste.

Though nothing will top the testicle episode for this year's funniest TV moment, last night's finale was not far behind, with Simon's potential exile to Swansea threatening to tear the dysfunctional gang asunder and prompting that comedy classic standby, the camping trip.

It was a non-stop stream of smut about sexual deviancy in all its many and glorious forms, teachers coming in for a particularly hard time.

'The only reason anyone teaches... is that there's a more relaxed view on police checks these days,' sneered the gangly head. Bye gaylords, you'll be missed.

TV review: The Inbetweeners

Ah, they grow up so fast don't they? One minute they're just cheeky little tykes, sneaking up under the radar to win an unexpected Bafta. The next they're, well, cheeky little tykes who with three successful series about being unsuccessful with girls are now too late-20s-ish to get away with it any more (apart from the inevitable spin-off movie).
