Ian Carmichael OBE was an English actor specialising in comic characters. Appearing on television, stage, film and radio, he was particularly celebrated for his roles in a string of acclaimed Ealing Studios and Boulting Brothers films, such as I'm All Right Jack and Lucky Jim. He was also much-loved for playing period characters Lord Peter Wimsey and Bertie Jeeves in BBC TV series.
