Liam Williams wraps up his mockumentary satire of YouTube berks by finally arriving at the Likeys awards, where the story of far-right crybabies spreading poison through vlogs comes rather earnestly to a head. Before that are more fine spoofs of baffling sub-genres: tonight, the erotic itch of ASMR.

Pls Like: the comedy that catches YouTube's dark side

Liam Williams's well-observed mockumentary digs into the real-life furores surrounding vloggers like PewDiePie and Logan Paul in its daring second series

Pls Like Series 2 review

As a whole it's an often very funny and smart series, with some great ideas and satirical elements which are quite biting. But by choosing to make the character of Liam Williams more idiotic, throwing in a few scenes which are truly absurd, and prone to on the nose humour, I didn't enjoy it quite as much.

The best comedy is written in turbulent times

If, in 2017, you needed respite from our dire economic prospects, the whims of Donald Trump or the Damoclean sword of North Korea, you could find it on British television. Three of the year's best new shows - Pls Like, This Country and Back - were welcome proof that reports of the death of the sitcom have been greatly exaggerated.

Ben Lawrence, The Telegraph, 10th December 2017

50 best TV shows of 2017, #19: A mockumentary satirising popular YouTubers as vapid shills might be shooting fish in a barrel, but Liam Williams's aim was still satisfyingly, mercilessly accurate.
