I've just watched the first one (although they seemed to announce it as Series 11 but surely it's way beyond that) and found it very enjoyable. She seems a great character - although I cringed when she said "I would of."

The rest of it was great though. Somehow she seems more like the 'real' doctor than either Matt Smith or Capaldi did, for me. (Although they were good too.)

Apparently it's accepted usage now. Of can be construed as an abbreviation of of course. Of course.
On Doctor Who I haven't watched it since the one with the giant maggot in it, that was a great series/double episode.

Thank God that Moffatt has finally gone. Utter prat for using his final episode to portray Bill Hartnell's First Doctor as a sexist dipshit. New Doctor's first episode fine, apart from her being MacGyver and creating a new sonic screwdriver in a shed. What a silly, overused prop. Should have stuck with the Capaldi costume, rather than the Mork costume. Supporting cast could do with a bit more diversity. Bradley Walsh's character should have been played by a Muslim Chinese actor.

Yes. Chibs has toned down the wacky shtick and the over-the-top emotional schmaltz -- and hopefully has banned the ethereal ululating soundtrack. Just a shame that f**king sonic screwdriver looks set to remain a ridiculous magic wand for explaining and resolving all problems.

I agree about her dreadful clown outfit. A black cocktail dress and kitten heels would be better. And yes, the sonic screwdriver bit was very irritating. As for the cranes sequence - pure James Bond Casino Royale! And why did they have to kill off the young lad's nan? Completely unnecessary, particularly as she was such a good character, who could reappear later. Perhaps she'll turn up in Coronation Street. Apart from those cavils, I loved it.

I agree, especially in writing. In speech it's sometimes harder to tell as they might be saying 've with an accent. But I was trying to help out the lady as there's very little chance that a real doctor with all her medical training and likelihood of a good education from a middle class background would be lapse enough to say of instead of 've or have. It just wouldn't happen.
I did see clippets of that Calpaldi guy playing the doctor and I could not make out what he was up to. He seemed to be intent on attempting to disappear up his own arse in some little psycho drama going on with himself. This is not the doctor 'oo I remember watching in the 70s thought I. That was a pretty good Whydamesque type of science fiction. Where did all this fantasy and weird uptight melodrama crap come from?

Not being an iron, I don't know what kitten heels are, but they sound interesting. But high heels would be stupidly impractical. I would prefer to see a bit more diversity and have the doctor wearing a Muslim veil or a burqa, complete with a mosque prayer room in the TARDIS. And that ghastly old TARDIS takeoff/materialization sound could be replaced by the Muslim call-to-prayer. Come on BBC, start being a little more inclusive and representative of diversity.

Yes, I was anticipating her as a non-annoying Jackie Tyler type, but the moment she started climbing the structure, I thought, "Oh f**k, she's gonna take a needless, fatal fall for the team." Wasn't even done well/creatively.
Still, after the utter shite of Matt Smith and Capaldi (not their faults, but Moffatt's), Who may be worth watching again.

Jodie is brilliant, I knew she would be having seen most of the stuff she'd done before, there's no other way to describe her other than she just IS The Doctor. Plot was a bit pants but to be expected in an episode that has to introduce and set up so much, and the depth of character in the companions is better than the last few years, where Chibnall fails in plot he makes up for in character.
