It really pisses me off when people say - in this weather - "What's the point of a fan? All it does is blow hot air round.".
I don't think anyone is actually claiming that a fan will cool a room down like air con, but a fan set in a fixed position directly on you does bring a LOT of relief.
And then people say, "But that must be really annoying to have a fan on you". There's just no pleasing some people.
The air feels nice and cold when it hits you. If people don't even understand fans they shouldn't be allowed out.
Yeah, moving air takes away heat by convection. But even if they don't know that, surely they notice that having a fan blow on them makes them feel cooler.
