Stephen Fry Page 11

should... not blasted for his sometimes dullness on a social networking site.

Hear hear! Nor should I! Nor, indeed, should you! Pleased

Any respect I had for Mr Fry has died today when I read that he thinks women don't enjoy sex.

Arrogant, misinformed and irresponsible.

And his 'best mate' Emma Thompson can f**k off too for her comments about cougars.

Pompous, judgemental, narrow-minded.... I could go on.....

In the interests of balance...

Hmmmm, I'm not totally happy with the explanation, there's no way anyone gets that badly 'misquoted'.

There are many reasons why women would't go up Hampstead Heath on their own after dark, top of the list now is 'Possibility of seeing Stephen Fry naked'.

You don't know British journalism.

Basically what's happening here is the good old British "Build 'Em Up, Knock 'Em Down" syndrome. It's always the same. In a jokey context, Stephen made a jokey comment in a jokey conversation. And suddenly the journo had his story because he knew full well that people like nothing better than to to read stories about "nice" celebrities who're apparently horrible in real life. Sadly no matter how much Stephen protests his innocence, the shit will stick because people actually enjoy these stories.

This morning I said all old people smell of piss, can't drive, and should be euthanized at age 60. It was a joke. I'd give them until 65.

I can totally understand how it could have been a jokey exchange that's been blown out of proportion. I've had many conversations with gay pals about female sexual behaviours, we even considered going into business with a couple of ideas we had, so I know gay men understand women.

To be honest I wouldn't have been surprised, or offended, if Graham Norton had said the same. I guess I just expected a more considered opinion from Fry.

Private Eye points out that Fry was lying when he accused the "f**king paper" of misquoting him: http://www.private-eye.co.uk/sections.php?section_link=street_of_shame&issue=1275

I'd like to go to the Heath looking for men and hopefully get some cock.

You see how easy it is to be misquoted?

That's not a mis-quote, it's an exposé. :D

I'm not sure that's what happened in this case.

As far as I can infer (the interview doesn't appear to be published online) the interview was printed in a straight Q&A format.

It was only when the mainstream, non-gay media (in this case, I think the Guardian was first) picked up on the interview that it turned into an anti-feminist shitstorm.

That said, I have no doubt Fry believes what he said.

And, of course, he's right. I've slept with almost eight straight women, and I don't remember any of them enjoying it particularly.
