How about we wait and see it before slagging it off? :O
Crazy idea I know.

Sorry, zooo, he started it. Quite literally. And I have no mind of my own. At all.

:)

How long have you been a member, again?

Stop calling me a penis.

I really want to like this show. It seems to have potential, but I thought League was hit or miss. I really liked some of the characters--like Tubbs and Edward, and Harvey and Val--but most of them were just rubbish (working on my British slang).

Does anyone know if/when it will be available in America?

If that's what you make of the League then it seems unlikely you're going to enjoy this.

Ditto.

I see this show involves a doubtless scary clown. Haven't we done the doubtless scary clown bit to death?

I just read a bit more about the show in the Radio Times. (I've been avoiding finding out too much before watching.) And while it is true that clowns are used often in horror, it's usually some weirdo or murderer who dresses up as a clown. So it's strange that the fact this show has a clown who actually works as a clown seems like an original concept.

Alison Graham hasn't given it the best build up... but she's so often off kilter with what comedy fans think so ignore her. She's also a bit stupid (she says: "I have no idea what's going on"... that's the whole point, it's a mystery!). Expect a slew of positive reviews next week from the likes of The Times, Telegraph etc.

Yeah, riiiiight. Rolling eyes

Calm down, I'm not defending it. (seeing as I haven't seen it yet.)

But can you think of other scary clowns that actually work as clowns? I couldn't.

I am calm. I'm still on a high over the flawless-skinned hottie.

Sideshow Bob. And his boss, porn addict Krusty the Klown, is someone you wouldn't want around kids.

Although my original point was really that Scary Clown in Comedy = Cliche. Whether or not he works as one, is beside the point. And it feels like ground they've already trodden before with Papa Lazarou, while although not a clown was certainly in that area. Then again, I haven't seen it yet so perhaps they've subverted the cliche and come up with something fresh.

As long as it's funny, I don't give two toots.

"Still, Shearsmith is resigned to the fact that the two shows will be compared, no matter what he does.

'I knew we'd never get around that,' he admits, 'but I think Psychoville is a lot more grown-up than anything else I've written, more sophisticated. I'd hate for people to think we're just doing the same old thing.' "

From todays Metro interview. You're right though - Im sick of seeing frightening clowns in comedy shows... and I hope that there aren't jokes based around odd characters and their peculiarities. How many times has THAT been done.

I'm sick of jokes altogether.
Been done to death. :)

Aside from the Lazrou argument, I can't think of a single scary clown in comedy?

Yes, they're more a horror thing.
