St Helier Hospital may be closed, it is a truly horrible place inside and outside . Unfortunately, have a lot of experience of the place. Epsom General Hospital is 'nicer' but smaller, one of the two has to go because of costs an' that. Two in to one don't go. Bla bla bla.

Has St Helier closed then?! It was indeed a horrible-looking building (looking like a huge white liner had run aground on top of Rose Hill), however in my days working in Intensive Care there, we often had to clean up some of the mess they'd caused down the road in Epsom.

No not yet. Although likelihood is that Epsom hospital will go and there will be an amalgamation of sorts. Talk of it has been going on for a few years now. I'd rather see St Helier's go, horrible, horrible place in an awful location. (as you well know).

St Helier Estate was the biggest one in Europe - not Benhill.

The shop they used used to be Sussex Stationers. I can't remember what it was before.

And what do you mean about manslaughter in Sutton. The one last week was murder!

The peculiar thing is you're actually viewing what was meant to be the back of the hospital. Yes, they sort-of accidentally built it back-to-front. They couldn't get the access road permission for the intended front side of the building, so that is actually the rear view you're seeing.

I had sex on a pool table in part of that building (somewhere a floor above the entrance bit in the middle).

On a clear day, from the hospital roof, you've got a great view out over London.

It's a flattering picture of sorts, the paint isn't that white and you can't see where it's peeling all over. As Chappers says from other angles it looks much worse, especially if you get some of Rosehill in the shot with its lovely big roundabout and selection of chicken shops.

It was always a bit of a pain in the arse for the hospital's social life that there wasn't a pub on the Rose Hill roundabout. Apparently there was once upon a time, before someone got killed with a shotgun in there, after which someone burnt the place down.

Then there was the St Helier Arms and Surrey Tavern where people got murdered too.
