Count Arthur Strong - Series 2 (TV) Page 6

I emailed 2Entertain (who released series one) and they have told me they won't be releasing series 2 as they haven't acquired the DVD rights for the second series. If you want series 2, tape them off the telly!

I really hope they're going to change their minds. I wasn't a big fan of series 1 but now I'm enjoying this.

The character Michael is supposedly 36 years old - my arse!

Far too little of titular character.

Rory Kinnear is 36 years old, your arse is however . . .?

Least enjoyable episode of the series so far. A few funny scenes which of course featured Arthur.

I hope the producers or writers get the message if this is renewed for another series.. Just concentrate on the Count, and make it more like the radio.

I have to say I enjoyed it. I know the Count wasn't in it a lot but I did enjoy it, I think what a lot of people don't realise is that the TV series is very different to the radio and does focus on the other characters aside from Arthur such as Michael, Eggy, Bulent, Zinem and John. I have enjoyed both series so far and would love to see a 3rd next year.

Loved the two incidents of him in the background with the toilet seat and the wizard - very clever and very funny. Didn't see either of them coming. Laughing out loud

Yes yes Arthur was pretty much a bit part in his own show

Again

So?

It was bloody good fun, that's all that really matters

Series 2 has been very good so far

Big improvement

I am loving this second series! Each episode has been strong, IMO. I've never heard the radio show, so the ensemble cast seems natural to me. I'll have to give it a listen, though.
It's the best sitcom out there for me, at the moment. Some big goofy laughs, and many Linehan touches. Sweeeeeet.

Keep your hair on, Compost.

HOW DARE YOU!!!....I'm Bald!

... and I see that episode 5 is back to normal.. if not worse!!!!...
Just when you think its about the Count he's AGAIN relegated to a bit part.
If I could stand to watch the whole thing again I'd get a stopwatch and time how long the Count was actually on- screen! I reckon less than 6mins!
Take out the boring interactions with Micheal and you get a fabulous 3min Count Arther comedy sketch!
Mmmmmmm ... is it worth it?

**andthat's whats wrong with ALL television comedy today... written by committee!

I can see your point and sympathise, but you need the other people to set up the scene for The Count to react to or whatever.
Having said that, yes I would like to see more of him.

I haven't see this one yet but following the name of the pilot in episode 2, I am now told that the name of one of the new characters is known to me. Furthermore, I know what name that name is. Taken together, the two are so uncanny that I'm having to ask who in the programme is a very regular reader of this forum.

Paranoia is normally about delusions but there must be a word for paranoia based on total justification. That is sort of my position a lot of the time and I don't go looking for it. Consequently, it feels best to wave it vaguely into the distance with the label synchronicity. Or else laugh which is what I'm hoping I will also do.

You lost me after "I haven't......" :(

You lost me after "I haven't......" :(

Thank the lord for that.

Actually, the sort of way you need to think to understand it is that you are watching a series every week - I dunno Benidorm or something - and you have made a few comments on here saying you like it a lot. And then in one episode, a character turns up and he's called Hercules. As it happens, he is in one of the trades you were once in. You think "oh, that's a bit unusual" but think no more about it. After all, many people are called Hercules. Well, not that many but a few. Then two or three episodes later there's another character who is called of all things Ethel Grytpipe-Thynne and that was your mother's name. That's too weird for words. It suggests someone in the show has read your contributions on the forum and done it deliberately.

Of course, it doesn't quite work in your case as your first name isn't actually Hercules - or at least I don't think it is - and your second isn't Grytpipe-Thynne. Nor was your mother's although there was a person called Hercules Grytpipe-Thynne who was fictional and could have been brought in for reasons other than you, if unlikely. Why have a Hercules in a comedy set in Alicante? And actually it is not my own mother's name that is involved here but that is the sort of concept basically. The alternative is that it is mere coincidence. That's cool. It adds to security. Life's a funny thing. But who would believe that? I am, if nothing else, mere but I'm not sure I do believe it is coincidence. There you go. Hopefully crystal clear.
