Greg Davies' crime scene comedy The Cleaner is returning to BBC One for a third series, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.
Davies will once again reprise his starring role as Paul "Wicky" Wickstead in the sitcom, which is also written by the comic and adapted from the hit German comedy Der Tatortreiniger (Crime Scene Cleaner), which ran for six series. However, further casting details and shooting schedule for later this year have yet to emerge.
Produced by SHUK (The Heist Before Christmas) and shortlisted as Best Returning TV Sitcom in the Comedy.co.uk Awards announced yesterday, The Cleaner has run for 13 episodes since 2021.
Regulars Davies and Zita Sattar - who plays Wicky's friend PS Ruth Edwards - have been joined by guest stars including David Mitchell, Helena Bonham Carter, Stephanie Cole, Zoe Wanamaker, Roisin Conaty, Asim Chaudhry, Sian Gibson, James Bolam, Harriet Walter, Simon Callow, Paul Chowdhry, Barry Castagnola and Layton Williams.
Reviews of The Cleaner have generally been strong with the Telegraph saying that "the gleefully macabre sitcom mops up laughs with ease", while the Independent has called it "intriguing" and "cleverly done".
Davies, who has just presided over the latest New Year Treat edition of Taskmaster on Channel 4, also hosts Sky Max's rebooted music panel show Never Mind The Buzzcocks, both of which are also nominated in the Comedy.co.uk Awards. Details and voting

Armed with chemicals, scrubbing brushes and cleaning rags, Wicky removes the gruesome mess at the scene of the crime. When carrying out his duties, he stumbles across the strangest of people, from the victim's relatives, employers, neighbours and acquaintances to occasionally even the murderers themselves. And because he's a sociable type, he sometimes gossips more than he cleans...
