Comedies nominated for Broadcasting Press Guild Awards 2019

The nominations for the Broadcasting Press Guild Awards 2019 have been announced, with comedies appearing in a number of the shortlists.

The BPG Awards 2019 - which are for work commissioned or produced in the UK and screened in 2018 - are chosen independently by TV and radio correspondents, critics and previewers.

The comedy-related nominees are:

Elsewhere in the nominations list, Lisa McGee has been nominated for Best Writer for her work on Derry Girls, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge nominated for Killing Eve. Al Murray's Why Does Everyone Hate The English? is up for Best Documentary Series, with that category also featuring Michael Palin In North Korea.

Hugh Grant, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keeley Hawes and Ruth Wilson lead the nominations for their drama performances. Full list of nominees

The results of the 45th annual BPG Awards will revealed at a ceremony at Banking Hall in London on Friday March 15th 2019.
