Filming is underway on Significant Other, the new ITV series starring Katherine Parkinson and Youssef Kerkour.

The six part comedy drama, which is due to premiere on ITVX in 2023, explores "the unromantic romance of two people whose drastic, but fateful, first meeting turns their lives around".

With cameras now rolling in Manchester it has been revealed that joining the previously announced leads - The IT Crowd star Katherine Parkinson and Home's Youssef Kerkour as the central protagonists Anna and Sam - is a stellar cast including actor and musician Kéllé Bryan (Me And Mrs Jones).

She plays Sam's wife Shelley, mother of their two children, whose entire world is her family and the real estate job she loves; Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner) appears as Ray; Ben Bailey Smith (4 O'Clock Club) takes on the role of Damien; Sue Vincent (Alma's Not Normal) joins as Gina; Shaun Williamson (Extras) is Johnny; Olivia Poulet (Doc Martin) plays Cathy and Will Ash (Great Night Out) will be Paul.

ITV says: "Significant Other is a beautifully unconventional love story told through a comedic lens, the series explores the depths of love, disappointment, and the surprises that life still has to offer. Anna and Sam are two lonely neighbours in their mid-40s, who embark on a hesitant, obstacle-filled relationship after drastic life events bring them together.

"These are not your conventional soulmates; Anna, who has given up on love, is defensive and closed off, and Sam, a newly separated father-of-two, is reactive and emotionally vulnerable. But as this strange love story unfolds with wryly observed wit and warmth, could these deeply flawed individuals - both at a time in their lives when change is difficult and rarely expected - influence each other for the better?"
