Many households in The States, have a flag-pole in their front garden, displaying the Stars and Stripes - you do that with St. George's flag, let alone the Union flag, and you'll be condemned as a rabid Nazi. There's no pride left in this country, and it's little wonder when you see what passes for normal now in the UK.

Some probably didn't exist but many of them did. It's the mad catholic church who beatified them if that's the word, many for things based on stories with no evidence at all. But then that's religion for you.

I think it rather depends on who's waving the flag, rather than the flag itself.

I think that's been blurred by the Emily Thornberrys of this country, now even churches are afraid to fly it. There is a church at the bottom of the hill in central Guildford that used to have a St George Cross flying permanently which provided a focal point and was a lovely sight against the hills behind it. Now no more. And Guildford's a conservative town, big and little c.

They're flying everywhere round here - all the churches as far as I've seen, and a fair few houses.
Not so much as you get near he Welsh border though!
It's an almost entirely manufactured conspiracy-theory to stir up the culture wars.
