High profile BBC personality in 'opinion at variance with current govt. policy' shock.

Series 6 is just days away!

Nice!

And good to see in that article another lot next year (with a Christmas special in a few months), lovely stuff.

Doesn't feel like it has been 6 series but then I was a latecomer to the series, starting it in 2020 as a nice light-hearted 'comfort' watch during lockdowns.

If you find fishing boring and barbaric, as I do, this series is tiresome.

I find it boring but the series one of the highlights of my year.

Even the serious fishing shows on TV of which there are a few are more about the banter than the fishing, though. And this one has the best banter of the lot by far. Yes it's another paid for jolly for comedians but I get the sense on this one they've earned it more than many of the hundreds of others, so keep it going.

I'm totally 100% with you on this one, beaky - absolutely hate fishing and lost interest in the prog. many moons ago, despite being big, big fan of both of them.

They make a point of putting all the fish back, to be fair.
Admittedly with a hole in their... tongue? Mouth? I don't know how fishing works.

Have you ever had a fish hook stuck in your flesh - it bloody hurts! And trying to get the barb past the entry point is V painful!! AND fish are having it wrenched out of their gob.

Strangely no, I haven't!
How did you manage that?

Stuck my hand into a bag of cotton reels and buttons, which had one in the bottom, not noticed by me until OUCH!!! Oh bother, I have a fish hook stuck in my hand ( in that fleshy bit between thumb and index finger)

Oww, jesus. That does sound horrible.
Bet it would have been nice to have a little Bob Mortimer on hand to take it out, though.
Those fish don't know how lucky they are.

He would certainly have kept me laughing through the tears as it was being removed. 🙂

Not sure who's idea it was to book a vegan who hates fishing to fill in for Bob, but Lee Mack really didn't work. It reinforced how much the show is built around Bob and Paul's friendship.
