Things that piss you off Page 1,813

Invested in the so called 15,000 hour LED domestic BC light bulb, that has gone phut in what appears to be a very short lifetime - so much for the 85% energy saving and their "long life and high efficiency make them a real money saver, allowing for a combined possible saving of up to £240 a year!"

At £5 a pop, I wouldn't call that cheap, by any means.

I have an Energy Saving Fluorescent Bulbs. 11W in a floor standard lamp that I set up for my disabled wife, and that has been running day and night for well over a year now - THAT is economy, not these new shit LED bulbs.

A quick calculation using a 60W old type lamp and replacing it with an 5W led lamp (equivalent to 60W in light power)
Running for 1000 hours on a normal tariff
Would cost you in electricity 60W = £16 5W = £1,20

So it's cheaper to buy a new lamp that has blown prematurely.
They are built with automated machines and only a 5 second test when assembled.
There will be a failure rate percentage.

Go to screwfix, they are about the cheapest and a great selection.

Thanks for that Stephen, but I've already ordered a pair of Energizer LED GLS Bulbs BC 11.6W for £9.99, which Screwfix don't do, and I'm always suspicious of bulbs that are V cheap.

I'll stand up for screwfix.
All the trades use them.
They have quality gear from recognised manufacturers at good prices.
This is not an advertisement - just personal experience.

Facebook jail. It's like real jail. But the sex isn't as good.

Oh yeah, have used them plenty of times, as with CPC over the years.

Light bulbs? Who calculates things like this? I just go to Wilko and buy the cheapest.

Yeah, but I don't want to be getting the step ladder out each week to change a light bulb. :P

Antelopes, antirrhinums, Ant and Dec and the Antarctic piss me off.

I just can't stand words beginning with "ant" apart from ant itself.

So you're anti-ant.

Can't you just grow a bit?

You should see how high the ceilings are in Thynne Towers! One doesn't live in a council house, don't yer know.

Swipe me, the proles we get on here - the lower classes don't know the 'alf of what we haristocracy have to put up with.

You'd be surprised how many times I am asked to calculate how much something costs to run.

As I said on this very thread not a year ago:

It used to be so simple to buy a light bulb... :$
