How Parkinson's disease sent me from Dibley to dribbly

Univeristy Challenge host Jeremy Paxman has been in touch with top comedy writer and producer Paul Mayhew-Archer MBE, after revealing that he has Parkinson's disease.

Paul, 68, who used to be a co-writer for The Vicar Of Dibley and script-edited a string of other hit sitcoms, was diagnosed with the condition a decade ago, and he has used humour to raise awareness of Parkinson's.

Covid in Scotland: Two weeks to save the Fringe

The future of the Edinburgh Fringe is in jeopardy unless social distancing rules for theatres are relaxed "within two weeks", the event's chief has warned. Shona McCarthy pleaded with the Scottish government to drop its strict two-metre requirement for venues in favour of the one-metre rule used in England, enabling producers to put on viable shows at this festival in August.

The original play did not impress the Glasgow Herald's drama critic, Christopher Small. Noting the presence of some "antique, good-humoured, humane ... veteran gags", he said they stood out with a noble solidity in the shambles around them, and that Milligan had a tender feeling for them.
