The Tez O'Clock Show review
Wading into the Brexit debate without getting bogged down in the personalities or over-familiar comic conceits, The Tez O'Clock Show also didn't simply presume the positions of its audience as The Mash Report is prone to do.
Jay Richardson, Chortle, 26th July 2019Channel 4 continues to do good work in diversifying topical TV satire: now, northern, working-class Muslim Tez Ilyas has a three-week run of sketches, chat and interviews that his sharp standup suggests will be on the money. Fellow comedians Sophie Willan, Adam Rowe, Sindhu Vee and Man Like Mobeen's Guz Khan co-star.
Jack Seale, The Guardian, 25th July 2019Why you need to watch... The Tez O'Clock Show
This 'late-night satirical comedy show' is absolute winner because you'll never have seen anything quite the same before. It is bursting with ideas and feels thrillingly overdue. It is the perfect answer to anyone who sees multiculturalism or representation as some sort of problem rather than the heart-swelling eye-opening heady joy that it is. Tez Ilyas has arrived and it's really fucking exciting.
