Further details
He may be better known as playing the nation's most famous grumpy old man, Victor Meldrew in One Foot In The Grave, but Richard Wilson's rise to becoming one of our most-loved comedy performers nearly didn't happen.
In the programme The Moments That Made Richard Wilson, he talks about his humble beginnings as a lab technician from Greenock and becoming one of the most recognisable faces in Britain and how he nearly turned down the role of a lifetime.
Aside from his TV work, Richard is also one of theatre's most respected directors and a relentless supporter of new writing talent. And despite being in his 80s, there's no sign of him stopping.
As well as featuring a special interview with Richard and other key people from his enduring career, including David Tennant and Arabella Weir, there are a feast of clips demonstrating the longevity and span of his career from One Foot In The Grave through to Crown Court, Tutti Frutti and Hot Metal.
