Back To Life will not be returning for a third series Daisy Haggard has confirmed.

Haggard, who starred as Miri in the BBC comedy drama about a woman trying to rebuild her life after leaving prison, and who co-wrote the show with Laura Solon, told Adrian Edmondson on the Out To Lunch podcast that "it feels really sad to kill Back To Life because I love Back To Life. But I think the story is done.

"I've got so many things I want to do, I've got two or three film ideas that I'm really excited about."

Co-starring Adeel Akhtar, Geraldine James, Richard Durden, Christine Bottomley, Jo Martin, Jamie Michie and Edmondson himself, Back To Life was produced by Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag), beginning on BBC Three in 2019 and moving to BBC One in 2021 for the second series.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed to British Comedy Guide that Back To Life would not be returning.

Haggard, who is currently starring with Martin Freeman in the fourth and final series of the Sky Comedy sitcom Breeders, also leads the forthcoming BBC One comedy drama Boat Story, produced by Two Brothers, and revealed to Edmondson that she is also developing another series with the production company.

"I have signed up to something with Two Brothers, for a drama, because we have such a good relationship and we know each other really well" she said.
