Joel Dommett

Joel Dommett fainted whilst running the London Marathon.

Writing on Instagram this evening, he told his 800,000+ followers: "Not the race I expected! I fainted at mile 17 - don't really remember much but I woke up in an ambulance! Thanks to Frankie and Barry for being amazing. I really wanted to finish it. After a few hours my pulse was back and I got going again at a very different pace but really got to soak it all in. Proud of myself for finishing."

Dommett who completed the race last year in 5 hours and 19 minutes, crossed the line this time in 6 hours and 3 minutes. Raising money for Brain Tumour Support, the comic had pledged to try and finish in under three hours this time and had got through the first half of the run in just 1 hour, 29 minutes.

Dommett wasn't the only comic to find this year's race hard. Rob Deering, who was running the race for an 11th time, failed to finish this time.

Writing on social media, he said: "Awkward! Guys, I Did Not Finish the London Marathon; the body was not ready." The musical comic had fractured his ribs not too long ago, however he did vow to those that were backing his fundraising for Parkinson's UK: "I will finish the Edinburgh Marathon in four weeks - I WILL! - so I do hope you're happy for me to roll your contribution over... sorry. x"

Stand-up Jack Skipper - running for Teenage Cancer Trust - completed the course in 5 hours, 4 minutes.

Meanwhile Romesh Ranganathan - also running for Teenage Cancer Trust - improved on his time from last year, clocking in this time at 6 hours and 2 minutes. However, the comic was disappointed with his time, saying: "I'm sorry to say I don't make the sub 5 I was going for but early on it was clear the conditions weren't ideal. Proper hot. Towards the end both my calves cramped up and I started to feel quite faint. But it's done."
