Munya Chawawa is to play King Charles in Kieran Hodgson's Channel 4 satire Prince Andrew: The Musical.

Further eye-catching casting announced for the previously announced hour-long comedy, which airs next month and stars creator Hodgson in the title role, include Harry Enfield as former prime minister Tony Blair, drag queen Baga Chipz as Margaret Thatcher and Emma Sidi as journalist Emily Maitlis, whose Newsnight interview with the Duke of York about his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, led to a series of events that ultimately saw him step back from royal duty.

The musical co-stars Jenny Bede as Prince Andrew's ex-wife Sarah Ferguson and Joe Wilkinson as a newspaper vendor.

It features seven musical numbers including I Nailed It, described as a "high-octane duet set in the aftermath of the Duke's Newsnight interview" and the romantic ballad Will You Be My Ex-Wife, which will be sung as a duet between Andrew and Ferguson.

Two Doors Down star Hodgson has written the lyrics and co-written the score with musical director Freddie Tapner and is an associate producer.

Chawawa wrote the lyrics to Obey, "a stirring solo number in which Prince Charles reflects on royal scandals past and present," with composition by Pippa Cleary (The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4).

Adam Reeve is producing for Hat Trick Productions (Have I Got News For You, Stuck), with Stu Mather and Jimmy Mulville executive producing.

"The story of Prince Andrew is tragedy and farce rolled into one, so why not add 'musical' for good measure?" said Hodgson. "Some might find the prospect of writing and performing their first TV musical a tad daunting. Not me. I found it completely terrifying. But we've pulled out all the stops, put every penny on screen and let rip at an institution that would perhaps prefer us to forget about all this. Also, I'm on a trampoline for a bit. Enjoy, world!"
