The BBC originally showed the entire series WITHOUT the laugh track.

I have to agree with you, I cannot watch it either with the awful fake laughing. I HAD been hoping the DVD releases might have been laughter free or at least with an option to remove the laugh track........... I doubt this is the case, though.
