To be fair to Arsenal that havnt spent that big at all to get where they are.

Precisely - trophyless in 7 seasons and in great danger of not making the Champions league this season. They are being quickly overtaken by the big spending clubs, which is proof that money can and does buy titles and cups.

Wenger does make big stars out of cheapish players, but most of them now leave to the bigger clubs where they may win something. Arsenal are a fading outfit, due to not spending the money they would seem to have. Wenger has probably gone as far as you can go with great coaching skills and little money. I think he's proved you actually do need big money as well, to win things.

That said I hate when teams attempt to buy the Premiership. Give Kidderminster Harriers £1 billion and they would be vying for the Premiership in a few years. Chelsea did it and now City are attempting to do it. Arsenal and United won it off their own bat not as a result of pumping millions upon millions of pounds into the club.

No!

The only way you'll win the PL is by pumping billions into a club. The only team that can win it just by good management is Man Utd. Yeah, they've spent lots over the years but they've done it steadily instead of over 1 or 2 seasons like Chelsea or Man C.

And no!

How on earth did you think Arsenal and Manchester United got to where they are today? Arsenal were football's equivalent of a travelling community until they effectively paid their way to the top flight, thanks to Henry Norris. They even paid their way to get promoted - because they certainly didn't earn it through a league position.

And as for Manchester United, they almost went under twice if it wasn't for being bankrolled by John Henry Davies and then some years later - James W. Gibson. The money from Henry Davies saved the club from ruin and took them to their first two titles, while Gibson's money took United out of mediocrity and was the catalyst for the Busby generation.

Now it's just a case of same s**t, different era. Stop your whinging!

Chelsea lost again. :D

*Maybe John Terry will take Jim Davidson to visit Bernard Manning's grave to cheer himself up.

Funny you should say that.

I thought the draw looked suspicious . . . . .

Not that anyone involved in football is in any way corrupt, or ever a little naughty at times.

Perish the thought.

Where on earth have you been? Are you trying to say that manchester united have never plundered other teams of their best players?

Another lucky draw for those scummy bastards! And I don't mean Blackburn.

Palace aren't crap. We're 3rd in the league, Radio Boy.

OK, 'crap' was a bit harsh but in terms of the draw they'd be seeded 7th. Basically you would expect United to win any game at home and would only be challenged by a top 6 side. However this is a League Cup tie so who knows what team they'll put out.

If Palace pull off a miracle you could get Cardiff or Blackburn so Wembley isn't out of the question yet.

:)

Anyone just watch the FA Cup draw with highlights of yesterday's Sutton United v Leatherhead tie?

What a terrible result. We really should've made sure yesterday instead of having to have a replay next tuesday. And what do the winners get? A home tie against Kettering. Thanks Matt!

I'm not saying United havent taken great players from other teams. My point is that United earned their way to the top through hard work, graft and sheer determination and generally became a rich club as a result of this hard work whereas City just bought their way to the top as a result of pumping billions into the club. Its not a legitimate rise to the top, there is no real skill or ability involved. Their policy is get the best players on board by waving wads of cash at them.

That's right - take as in steal them.

And then exploit foreigners all around the world who "support" them.
