Doctor Who... Page 441

I'm neither religious nor atheist; I'm prepared to believe there might be an all-powerful being or creator, but I ain't seen enough proof yet one way or the other.

Well, this is discussed in the book - it's far harder to prove that something doesn't exist than that it does exist. It is impossible to disprove for example that even if God didn't create the universe and has to date done nothing and never appeared to someone that he still doesn't somewhere exist - which should tell you an historical refutation is more valuable than a logical one.

You can explain fully and adequately where religious belief came from, why it was created and why it persists, which should be enough for most intelligent people

Getting back on topic, here's proof of the celestial teapot:

Hoochie Mama!

The Doctor Who thread just got interesting!

Most Atheists don't care what other people think, "that's up to them to have their funny beliefs", but Dawkins is actively trying to make people believe there is no god.

To "not believe there is a god" is not the same as to "believe there is no god", in reality.

The first is an absence of belief, the second amounts to a belief that all the religious people are WRONG.

Apparently there's a lesbian porn film starring the daleks: Abducted by the Daloids

More from The Register:

The BBC and the estate of Dalek creator Terry Nation have moved swiftly to pull the plug on the the trundling salt-cellars' intergalactic rumpy-pumpy.

The 1,000-disc limited edition DVD recently popped up on eBay but has now been removed at the Corporation's behest. The blurb stated:

ABDUCTED BY THE DALEKS: A brand new limited edition release (1000 (numbered) discs). For obvious reasons this is going to become a very collectible item especailly with the resurgence in the interest in Dr.Who. The DVDs will be sold on an incremental basis (eg: Lowest number first). The disc contains a 56 minute main feature plus a 40 minute outake/alternative version plus a trailer.

Yes yes, but what about the hot Dalek-on-girl-on-girl action? Here's more:

The story centers around three sexy young disco babes who have met the mysterious Anna. As they journey through the woods they discuss the legend of The Serial Skinner not knowing that they are already being observed by a more ambitious and ruthless species of Alien.... the daleks!!!

To cut to the chase - literally - here's how UK tabloid the Sun describes it: "Dr Who's foes capture three naked 'disco babes' in the 18-rated DVD. They chase the girls around their spaceship and grope them with their plungers."

Despite being something of a sad Who completist, it's very low on my priority list of Who DVD acquisitions*.

Yep, totally. No argument there. And I am coming from the rather weak position of not having read his book, which I understand is called "The God Delusion". Perhaps I should have taken the title as a clue that he is trying to argue the case that there is no god. Or is he just saying there is no evidence for a god? That would seem like a perfectly atheist stance to me and isn't tantamount to a religious belief in any way.

This is one of those weird Copyright things.

The Daleks have been created and developed as 'characters' by the BBC so, despite the fact that none of the words of the script of such a film would have been copied from BBC scripts, BBC can still have copyright in the character and are entitled to prevent usage of the character or to demand royalties.

"You can't copyright an idea" ho ho!!
except when it is an idea created by a wealthy organization...

Can we get back on topic please.

Is there a God or not?
Come on Boffins, let's crack this thing!

It's a tedious book, and I really can't be bothered to dig out my copy to check, but my presiding impression is that he is trying to argue the case that there is no god

Ok here is some proof... :D :D :D

Gods Friend

When God made the earth & sky,
the flowers & the trees,
He then made all the animals,
The fish,the birds,the bees,
And when at last he'd finished,
Not one was quite the same,
He said "I'll walk this earth of mine,
and give each one a name",
And so he travelled far & wide
And everywhere he went,
A little creature followed him
until its strength was spent,
When all were named upon the earth,
And in the sky & sea,
The little creature said Dear Lord,
There's no name left for me,

The Father smiled & softly said,
I've left you to the end,
I've turned my own name back to front

and called you Dog ,my friend.

Laughing out loud

There's a novel about God being a teenage boy who rushed through making the world in 6 days because he couldn't be bothered to do it properly. :)

A teenage boy wouldn't spend as long as six days on anything.

Bringing both topics back together Dr Who enthusiasts need to believe in God, cos there wouldn't be a Devil without s a God and Dr Who met the Devil.
