I read the news today oh boy! Page 2,234

"Shop til you drop" has a new meaning outside Harrods.
Boris hasn't been brilliant about dealing with the virus but a lot of people are making his job harder.

I think you're probably right.
It only takes about 5% of Republicans to feel he's a bit too barmy to stop him getting re-elected.

Or he could be in prison :)

But aren't they all going to pardon themselves?

I wonder if they will close the legislative loop holes that Trump has scurrilously exploited. His Political skulduggery took America by surprise in 2016, as did Farage on Brexit. I'm impressed the Democrats managed to find a candidate bullet proof enough to withstand his gas lighting and false accusations. I wonder if we'll see enough pain and uncover enough falsehoods to reconsider Brexit in our life time ?

It'll be slow process but I think some sort of re-alignment will occur.
One little piece at a time the bridges will be rebuilt - though I doubt re-joining will ever be on the cards - too many political egos would need to get bruised.
Behind the scenes all sorts of right-thinking people are already trying to salvage the good bits - scientists, academics, environmentalists, and so on, are reaching out. It's harder without the structure of the EU, but it can be done.
In our lifetime - who knows?
But I have faith in the next generation.

Well do business with Europe on our terms, not theirs.
That's what it's all about.

If we don't get a deal it'll be very much on their terms.
Anyway - I was talking more about repairing the cultural harm.

Just shoot them out of our fishing waters.

And then who do you intend selling all the fish to?

We hardly touch mackerel - we sell it all the the Europeans

No good catching fish if you've nobody to sell it to

Why do remainers believe there will be no trade?
They can't turn their back or they'll go bankrupt.
Trade will continue as before.

You are believing the guff that 'all is lost'
This time next year, you'll wonder what all the fuss was.

.

In all the years I've been coming to this site - that, is the funniest thing I've ever read

Mentalist

Instead of constantly calling me names, you tell me the worst that will happen
You obviously have no clue how business works.

I work for a company that trades with European countries constantly

I know , believe me what a mess is just around the corner

Shippers we have dealt with for decades are already telling us they don't want to bother anymore due to the extra red tape

If you think everything is just going to carry on like nothing had happened - I'm afraid it's you that clearly has no idea what's going on!

That is utter bullshit.
I have someone who works for an import, export software company.
They have been preparing for it for 2 years.
No red tape, the software is there to make it seamless.

Know any sheep farmers, Stephen?

Quote: Stephen Goodlad @ 7th December 2020, 9:16 PM

That is utter bullshit.

Well it patently isn't.
We were going to take a hit even with a good deal.
And that's according to the Treasury.
If it was about trade we'd have stayed in.
This is an ideological project.
One you agree with and I'm vehemently against.
But No Deal will be very destructive to certain sectors - even the (sane) Brexiteers agree on that.

Nope not bullshit

Total reality

One company doesn't want our nearly one million pound a year business anymore - don't want to know

All due to Brexit

Btw I'm neither a remainer or a Brexiteer - didn't even vote

So I'm not biased - just reporting facts
