As Finisham Maternity Hospital welcomes its latest group of freshly qualified young nurses, one appears to be a little taller, a little broader, and a little gruffer than the others...
Cyril Carter - going by the rather clumsy moniker 'Cyrille' - is in drag, tasked by his petty crook of a father, and his accomplices, to find out where the hospital keeps its large stock of 'the pill'. This may be England and the permissive society with such medication freely available on the NHS, but there are other countries where customers will pay a pretty penny for such treatment! As soon as Cyril has located the stock, his father's small gang intend to steal the entire lot...
However, this is Cyril's first job and he's neither too keen to be put in drag nor too clued up on how to even begin to fit in. His father may be quick thinking, but he certainly is not! It's not long before he's raising the suspicions of more than a few of his fellow staff - and the ardour of ever-randy Doctor Prodd!
Meanwhile, hypochondriac head surgeon Sir Bernard Cutting is concerned he's caught Asian flu. That is unless he's actually turning into a woman. A brief word with psychologist Dr Goode leads him to decide that he is, in fact, in subconscious need of a woman in his life... Could the stern but kindly Matron be the answer?
Over in the nurse's quarters, Cyril has quickly fallen for his room-mate Susan, and it's not much longer before she figures out his real gender. But will she help him go through with it, or is this yet another spanner in the works of the plot?
