Filming for the fourth commissioned series of Hi-De-Hi! (7 episodes) had completed before BBC One had broadcast the third series (6 episodes). Therefore, the corporation chose to combine the two - resulting in the 13-episode-long Series 3.
With filming initially taking place during Spring, Jeffrey Holland spent so much time in the camp swimming pool during production of Series 1 that he was treated for hypothermia. From Series 3 onwards, production moved to the end of the Summer and early Autumn.
