CITV has confirmed a third series of animated comedy series The Rubbish World Of Dave Spud.

Animators The Illuminated Film Company is now working on 26 new episodes of the award-winning sitcom, with the new series scheduled to air in the autumn.

Launched in 2019, the comedy focuses on a family's surreal adventures, with the eponymous central child character an archetypal underdog and magnet for disaster.

The voice cast from the previous series will all return for the new episodes. Johnny Vegas plays Dave, with Gina Yashere as his friend Gareth the Starfish, Philip Glenister and Arthur Smith portraying his parents, Lisa Hammond taking on the role of his sister Anna and Jane Horrocks as Gran.

Producer Iain Harvey says: "We are delighted by the continued success and support of this British series and are thankful for the support from ITV and the funding support from Creative Wales. We hope to deliver another bin full of fun adventures for all the fans of the series - they are who we really do all this for!"
