Bill visits the fortune teller, who tells him there is a new partnership in the air. Moments later Polly disappears...

Meanwhile Minnie the landlady demands the rent from Fagin - no more excuses. Unless Fagin pays up she will have to evict them all and find someone who can pay. Could this be the end of the lair?

Having been spotted by PC Duff and PC Blathers, who were unsuccessfully apple bobbing at the carnival, the gang race back to the lair with nothing to show for their exploits. Worse - no Polly. Fagin explodes and blames Tom, who is cast out once and for all. Joining forces with Bill and Nancy, the trio plan a heist of their own.

But what has happened to Polly? On a rescue mission, Dodger and the gang arrive at the common where the carnival stood that afternoon. It has gone. The Rossinis are on their way to Europe. Polly may never be seen again.
