BBC, 10th May 2018

A decent biopic of the Carry On and EastEnders star, strung together from archive and talking heads, and featuring the usual tabloid suspects, but also benefiting from friends and colleagues who know what happened because they were there. It's useful as a primer on Windsor's early work in theatre and film, where her energy and skill were utilised more artfully than in the soaps and sauce she is better remembered for.

With Henry VIII (Sid James) plotting to rid himself of garlic-scoffing wife Marie of Normandy (Joan Sims) to romp with frisky Bettina (Barbara Windsor), the plot may puzzle Wolf Hall fans somewhat. But while it's no Carry On classic to match Cleo and Up The Khyber, it offers clear evidence that the Tudor court could be huge, raucous fun, with Kenneth Williams a rather more nefarious Thomas Cromwell than Hilary Mantel would allow.

Carry On Camping bikini-puller Paul Cowan dies

A film producer who created one of the most iconic moments in British cinema history - when Barbara Windsor's bikini flew off in the 1969 comedy Carry On Camping - has died.

Radio Times review

"Now let's really see those chests come out!" Kenneth Williams urged Barbara Windsor in Carry On Camping - triggering the saucy, bra-pinging reveal that opened the floodgates for the bawdier tone of the Carry Ons that followed in the 1970s.

Jacki Piper and the Amazonian Valerie Leon are among the former totty invited down Memory Lane in this concluding part, while June Whitfield lends an air of dignity (despite playing Miss Prodworthy in the startlingly anti-feminist Carry On Girls). The tone struggles to keep celebratory while charting the grim demise of the franchise into single-entendre smut, as well as the deaths of the Carry On stalwarts - some so long ago now.

Radio Times review

If you have a favourite Carry On, the chances are it features in this edition. Episode one covered the film series's faltering early steps, up to Carry On Jack. Now we're wading into the golden period, the mid-to late 60s, with genre spoofs Carry On Spying, Cleo, Cowboy and Screaming.

Barbara Windsor is starkly absent from this affectionate celebration, but her co-stars Jim Dale, Amanda Barrie and Julian Holloway reminisce with joy. The extraordinary Fenella Fielding returns to a former haunt used in Screaming, Anita Harris revisits Follow That Camel's Saharan location (Camber Sands), while Angela Douglas is taken Up the Khyber (Snowdon). There's also a lovely tribute to Hattie Jacques and rare behind-the-scenes footage of Sid James and Kenneth Williams at work.

Radio Times review

Written by and starring the siblings Rebecca and Jeremy Front, this astute satirical comedy returns for a new run. Each of the five spoof documentaries has Jeremy, as a Radio 4 reporter, spending 24 hours in the company of one of the "incredible women" of the title, all played by Rebecca.

Today we encounter Danielle, a reality TV star whose concept of "normal life" has been weirdly warped by having her every move scripted for her - it's a cross between TOWIE and What Katie Did Next. Various famous voices pop up as themselves - Eamonn Holmes, Joanna Lumley, Clare Balding and Dame Stella Rimmington included - and my favourite is Barbara Windsor, who makes a knowing return to her Carry On days as a sexually predatory 87-year-old singer.

Clever, funny, quality writing - this is just what we've come to expect from the Fronts.

Former EastEnders star Barbara Windsor is used to fight scenes in Albert Square - but now she's been learning kung fu for Comic Relief.

The Sun, 11th February 2013

Affable Rob Brydon's light-hearted chat show is pleasant enough but has little to distinguish it from others of its kind. Tonight he's joined by Barbara Windsor who shares a delightful Amy Winehouse anecdote and has fun sending-up her EastEnders alias Peggy Mitchell's banshee-like behaviour. Chef Heston Blumenthal also drops by to discuss barbecuing etiquette and sleek doo-wop band The Overtones provide the music.
