Are people still receiving running orders? I did in the end receive one for week 1 as part of a sketch request email, and I'm still receiving the sketch request emails but I never received week 6, which Shandonbelle was good enough to upload, and haven't received one for last week yet.
Thanks

Just been to see the show. Full of really great sketches and songs. Well done to anyone who has stuff in the current run!
For anyone like me new to writing for the show I'd thoroughly recommend going to see it. As well as being a great night out, it's invaluable for getting a feel for how they work. For instance one thing that I had been unaware of was the fact that they would combine sketches and songs (sketch, break into song, bit more sketch, back into song). When submitting songs I have been submitting ones that are purely just the song.
It was also very interesting to see the length of sketches / songs, ranging from 20 seconds ones that were basically build-up and punch line, through to 3 minute+ ones, albeit those seemed to be cast written ones I believe.
I noticed that the majority of the songs were based on songs from musicals rather than pop songs. Does anyone know if that is a common theme? Pretty much every song I've submitted has been to the tune of a pop song so if that's a common theme I need to be rethinking my tactics.

The other thing to remember is that it is a different cast and director every six weeks (usually) so things change quickly. Inevitable I find my material clicks more with some directors than others. But I would reiterate TheJaw's point. Definitely worth going to see the show. And go to the writers meeting if you can (coming up soon). Unfortunately I can't make it this year.

I managed to get a sketch into the latest running order. It's my first newsrevue credit in over a year.

Well done gd89. That must have been a very pleasant surprise.

Got a nice 'little' cheque from NR in the post today, and pay day tomorrow too, if things really do come in threes I may go for a lucky dip on Saturday Pleased

A cheque from NR, followed by pay day, followed by a swim with some models on Saturday; Not a bad week. :D

I got my first cheque yesterday as well. Slightly more than I had anticipated but still struggling to describe it as a "life changing amount of money".

does anyone know what week the run is in?

I'm pretty sure that week 5 is currently being performed.
