Oh, oh I see - abandon ship and then come back with not even a by your leave and NOW start laying the law down.

Hallelujah!! The Chappers has been resurrected!

We need guidance as this is your thread........... Angelic

You're the expert on the show. Or should I say the Professional!

I can only think of beers that come from Germany. Or art that was made in Germany. Or was Viagra the word I guessed right? I can't...

4) Franz Marc

So it's the art connection? Expressionist art?

Almost there. So close.

Dunno about expert, but am always on the look out for new ideas and this thread OF YOURS seemed ideal.

:( I'm lost now, the only limp connection I can see is that Munch is Munich without the "i" - it's not a sequence is it?

Here's a clue, the answer includes the word Blue and it's a group of artists focusing on a style already mentioned. Two members of the group have already been mentioned.

Herc maybe you should set the questions, as you're well practices a this.

Don't despair! Some of those on Only Connect I look at and say WTF!!! Which makes it VERY frustrating for me when I pitch what I think is a cracker and they turn it down for whatever.

This one is looking as a serious candidate for me to make a note of for Series 16 next year, so you see taking the thread over is the last thing I want to do as a fresh mind is MOST welcome!

The only thing that is confusing for me is where the plain word "Germany" fits in to all this.

Stab in the dark - is it "Blue period"?

Okay I've googled and think I have the answer, but don't wanna spoil it with a cheaty answer, unless you want me to.

:O Well that's up to Firkin.......................

It's where the group was formed, in Munich, Germany. Half the group were German, half just liked the style (including Edvard Munch who's Norwegian) . Picasso had a Blue period , but this is the name of a group of artists. They're not the Impressionists, but also used vivid colours. They were named after particularly pictures painted by Franz Marc, such as this one:

He painted the soul of an animal rather than the animal. Often the animals would meld into the back ground, almost hidden. The answer is: Blue Ryder club of Expressionists. or Der Blaue Reiter (German). The Scream being their most famous picture. Franz Marc's blue horse(s) were also called sad horses. I though within the world of art, these guys were well known...we need more cartoonists on this forum.

Lady Leg should gets some points for Blue and Expressionists and Chappers got Munch.

Good connection. I can't draw cartoons, I'm afraid. Just moody monster faces. Lots of teeth and angry eyebrows etc.
I'll do another one to break the silence. Here's the first clue...

1. Seasonal meadow
