A training day for comedy writers has been announced for Saturday 22nd February 2014.

The Craft of Comedy Writing Conference will feature talks and workshops lead by broadcasters, producers, writers and other leading industry professionals. The tagline to accompany the day is "Sitcom. Stand-Up. Sketch Shows. TV. Radio. Online - Find YOUR comic voice."

The packed day, which will be held in Llandudno, North Wales, is aimed at people who want to break into the comedy writing business and are looking for advice on how to go about it, as well as those who are already writing and striving to get a big break.

The event will feature the likes of Radio 4 commissioner Caroline Raphael, Huffington Post's comedy editor Andrea Mann, HIGNFY writer Ged Parsons, Cabin Pressure writer and star John Finnemore, The Now Show producer Colin Anderson, PBJ comedy writing agent Kate Haldane, S4C's digital editor Huw Marshall, and Big Train and Yonderland producer Sioned Wiliam. More names are due to be announced soon too.

David Nobbs (pictured) will also be in attendance. The closing session of the conference will be a screening of his favourite episode of his hit 1970s sitcom The Fall And Rise Of Reginald Perrin, followed by an episode of a different sitcom that he admires. The identity of this second sitcom is currently being kept as a mystery. As part of this session, Nobbs will talk about these shows, his career, and take questions from the audience.

The Craft of Comedy Writing Conference is organised by Venue Cymru and Giddy Goat Productions and funded by Arts Council Wales.

Conference director Steve Doherty says: "Every time someone has laughed at a sitcom or listened to a stand-up comedian's set - those jokes have been thought up and written down by a comedy writer. If you've ever thought 'I could do better than that...' then this conference is a way for you to find out how."

The conference will take place at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on Saturday 22nd February 2014. The seaside town of Llandudno is situated in North Wales and is easily accessible via rail. For example, the town is only just over two hours away from Manchester.

Tickets to the event are just £60 (£40 for students), and the price includes a networking lunch. If you book and pay before February you can pick up a ticket for the early bird rate of £50 (£30 students).

The evening session involving David Nobbs is open to the public and tickets for the screenings can be bought by those not attending the full conference for £5.
