Nowt.........this is going to be the soberest Christmas EVER!! :(

Why?

Quote: keewik @ 24th December 2014, 7:15 PM GMT

Why?

Always had a boozy Christmas and New Year, but this year a combination of things happening with my son, my wife and I have put the mockers on it - may sound crazy but that's the way it is. Cannot elaborate. :(

But next year..........who knows, but for now it can only be healthier? :D

Today: one Tia Maria coffee plus two glasses of white wine.
Now: I'm on my second cup of tea; I cannot bear even a hint of hangover these days.

Thank you keewik. :) Am on my fourth mug of coffee.

When I think of that poor lady in Glasgow who has not only lost her daughter, but also both of her parents in that tragic event and at this time of year, it makes me think my problems are nothing..........

Unimaginable sorrow, I sincerely hope she finds solace.

Yes. The added awful thing was that apparently she'd gone over to a cash machine and witnessed the whole thing. How could you ever get over that?

Oh......my......God. Terrible. Terrible. Poor woman. My heart goes out to her.

And never........

Just took a tour of the Ballast Point brewery in San Diego. I started with a Sculpin IPA served on nitro, followed up with a habanero Sculpin and now I'm sipping on a blackberry sour beer.

A black widow which is kahlua and rum.

Glass of scotch.

Heaven.

I drank a lot of different things last night: rum, vodka, vermouth, bourbon, wine and probably several other things.

And I was fine this morning apart from being a little wobbly.

Drinking is GREAT!

Piss head!

Tesco's Cherry Juice. It's bloody delicious even when diluted.

I keep meaning to try some US IPA's. There's a place near me - I think I mentioned them to you before - who import loads of different ones.

No just the plain old Cherry juice. It's streets ahead of Sainsbury's version.

I've never noticed such a thing as cherry juice. Must look out for it.

I got round to getting some US IPAs t'other day and had this one last night:

It was damn nice.

The guys at Anchor will always have a place in history as one of the first microbreweries to break out into the national scene. I remember drinking Anchor Steam 20 years ago and having my eyes opened to the possibilities of great beer. That said, their IPA is not a standout in the genre, so keep sampling!

It's been a lot of fun watching the craft beer industry take flight, and the UK is there at the forefront. I had some great beers on my trip to Blighty last year. I didn't receive much feedback for the cans and bottles I brought to the BCG meet-up, but I hope they were well received. British beers are some of my favourites and it will only enrich our lives if the breweries of our respective countries test the waters with new styles and experiments.

Cheers!
