No, because you're spending the same about on one portion of food when you can spend the same amount on multiple portions.

I spend £2 a week on 5 cans of soup. And £1.20 odd on a loaf of bread, use elsewhere too. Hardly extravagant.

Hardly a decent varied diet The original point was that Ellie doesn't need to eat soup and bread 5 times a week.

I very rarely buy soup because I make my own batches and freeze them. I don't like most tinned soups.
