Excellent.

You are now well placed to be a situationist. :)

I read this prior to that

Image

Not as detailed maybe

Still a good read though

So Scotland get devo max out of it, very good deal with none of the crazy risk of going it alone with no currency sorted, which was their big downfall. 45% and a lot of that was just patriotic hype and whipped up England hating, it was a crude and clumsy campaign by SNP overall, more Braveheart than brain. Scotland should be proud of the Union, they'd be third world country without it.

I didn't know about that one.

Thanks.

You have probably read the Lydon one with the controversial title.

That's also a good - and often funny - read.

No not yet

It's kinda on my list

Along with about 100 other books!

The thing is

Have the jocks got all this purely because ONE rogue and clearly wrong Yougov opinion poll had YES in front two weeks before the vote?

Is this the kind of ignorant, ill-informed, insulting rant which I'm supposed to laugh off as jolly banter? Alfred you should have been in George Square last night celebrating with the band of No supporters. You could have joined the mature (?) gang of men who harassed young teenage girls because they had Saltires painted on their faces; you could have helped the mob burn the Saltire; you'd possibly have enjoyed joining them in giving Nazi salutes.

To those of you who have made me laugh over the time I've been here, thank-you and good luck.

To the anti-Scottish gang (and there are a few of you) - I believe in Karma so let's hope whatever happens won't be too bad.

Farewell.

Don't go KW, the Kipper is a unique person and very far from representative.

I have been to Scotland many times not just Edinburgh and Glasgow but far north into the stunning highlands and have never been met with anything but warmth generosity of spirit and home, with conviviality good humour and large drams. Scotland gets my vote whatever she decides for herself.

What Marc said.
Hope you come back.

My wife is half Scottish and we have spent many a happy day with her relatives in Glasgow - a warm, and, if anything, over generous people as you are ever likely to meet. (Where the Scots got a reputation for being tight is beyond me), and I LOVE the accent - it makes me smile :)

I'm gonna come and shit in your letter box (again) if your not careful Wales

For what it's worth I thought Scotland missed a great opportunity for two reasons. Firstly it was a chance to get revenue from the oil before the reserves begin to run out. Secondly Scotland is a mainly socialist country that continues to get a Conservative government.
Economics was the sticking point the YES campaign never really got to grips with. I was also surprised on the interview how many Scots were proud to be British as well as Scottish. Who'd a thunk it!

Devo Max means bollocks all, they've got all the meaningful controls.

What's really left other than defence.

The real deal is the extra funding Scotland gets is already being rolled back and whoever's left holding the reigns, will have to start making serious cuts to health, educations and probably the biggies like free uni education.

Without currency union it would be suicide. And you can only get currency union before independence.

Problem is;

[what do we want? currency union, when do we want it? when it's economically viable and before a well planned devoloution from the UK.]

Is less snappy than

[English gobshites stole our votes]
