As I said elsewhere, I have a feeling this is going to be "one of those years" I am afraid. :(

I'm not going to start a new thread on Jazz but it can be lumped in here.

There's a new Part Work series out now of Jazz albums on vinyl. The first part is "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis. "Only" £4.99 with a magazine too.

No, I think jazz should have its own thread.

There's only about 5 people contribute to this thread. I would think you'd be talking to yourself.

And we lose another big name in the music world.

Giorgio Gomelsky, impresario - obituary.

Massive in the development of British R & B with the Stones and Yardbirds.

Do it all the time, so what's new. Pleased

I can't admit to having actually heard of him before but I've heard of the Tower of Power Horn Section.

Mic Gillette of the band has also just passed away from a heart attack at the age of 64.

Right - music buffs:

I've started on a 'mixtape' for my friend, and the theme/link is track 1 is by a solo artist, track 2 is by a group with 2 members, track 3 is a group with 3 members etc...

It's a 10-track CD, and I've got the first 9 sorted, but I don't think I've got any ten-member bands in my library. Any suggestions (apart from "just leave it at 9 tracks!")?

As long as the band has ten official members at the time of recording an album, it counts.

Any help much appreciated!

Arcade Fire has had between 7-10 members. No idea on which albums though: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcade_Fire

If you count hangers on - UB40 also qualify, but not at time of recording. Gypsy Kings were sizeable (but I've not counted). Also consider a large Jazz band or a tiny Brass band.

Neil Young & The Bluenotes had exactly 10 members.

Or you could count the members of The Mothers Of Invention on each of their albums...they always had lots of personnel changes. There must have been ten of them at the same time at one point or another. Same goes for Parliament/Funkadelic.

I hope that helps.

Lord Rockingham's XI.

How many are there/were there in Bellowhead?

How weird - I was just looking through my mum's collection and came across Bellowhead. They've got 11 members - if I hear something I like from them I might stretch the disc to 11 tracks (or 12 if I can find another act to round it off nicely).

I've just discovered Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - they've got 10 on their most recent album.
